Welcome back to our Best of British series! We’ve been chatting about supporting local homegrown British design and the benefits of shopping local, which are both close to our heart as an independent retailer. As promised, we’re now putting the spotlight on British talent and showcasing some of the British designers we’ve loved discovering and adding to our collections at Feather and Nest. So, grab a cuppa, sit down, and take a look at the products from some of the UK’s most creative minds.
Louise and Lygo
Louise and Lygo predominantly specialise in paper goods, such as wrapping paper and greetings cards. But they also design beautiful cushions and wall hangings with uplifting inspirational quotes. Everything is hand drawn by Louise and their paper-based products are proudly printed in the UK. Louise describes her fun illustrations and entertaining typography as “full of personality and a little bit wobbly” - which we absolutely love! These beautiful paper products will add the perfect finishing touches to any present.
You can’t really get any closer to home than Garden Trading. Based in our own county of Oxfordshire, Garden Trading was founded by Jon Holloway back in 1994. His vision was to produce high quality outdoor products that fused durability with style. After the success of his outdoor collection, Jon and his team have now also expanded into indoor homewares and lighting. We love that every one of their fantastic products are still designed and developed in their Oxfordshire office. We stock many of their stylish planters to complement our own Green & Wild outdoor collection, but we also have a soft spot for their unique vases. They’re sure to make a statement on any table!
Sarah Ray is a really talented illustrator. Based in Bristol, Sarah creates fun cards, also featuring animals and humorous greetings, that are sure to put a smile on the recipient’s face. When she’s not designing stationery, she’s working on commissions, climbing trees and getting inspiration from her young son. That sounds pretty great if we’re honest!
Feeling inspired? We hope so. There’s so many fantastic British designers out there, if only we had enough space in our shop for them all! Supporting our own homegrown talent is really important, but it’s also a lot of fun. We love getting that buzz when you discover a new brand that’s so you. Or something that makes you chuckle to yourself. We’re proud to showcase British talent and share these creative minds with you. We hope their work brightens your day as much as it does ours!
