About Our Store
We’ve been described as a ‘little slice of London’ and a ‘magical store’ by our lovely customers who are becoming regular visitors since we opened our doors in October 2015. Our store, Feather and Nest, is located in the pretty riverside town of Wallingford in a beautiful old listed building steeped with character. You won’t find another store like ours in the local area, we pride ourselves on being different, and offering cool, tasteful stuff for you and your home.
We are great believers in filling your home with things that tell a story about you and bring your home to life. We love things that have personality, a sense of fun about them and simply make you feel happy.
Many of our products are made or designed here in the United Kingdom, we are not fans of mass produced stuff, we like unique and quirky. Amongst our favorites are the wonderfully witty illustrated plates by Jimbobart, we all need a plate that says ‘I eat cake in my pants’ in our lives! We love Sarah Ray’s cards too, brilliantly funny cards featuring sad slugs, musical worms and rabbits on flying carpets, what’s not to like!
Of course us Brits are very talented chaps, but we are also fans of Scandi inspired design, and have handpicked a gorgeous children’s interior collection by Danish brand Bloomingville, this is an exclusive range that you won’t find readily available. Alongside that some of our favourite products are from ethical brand Nkuku, whose products are made by skilled artisans in Africa & India, promoting fair trade & equal opportunities.
That's me up there, my name is Angela and I am the founder & owner of Feather and Nest. I still have really similar hair, but fortunately the large 70's collars have gone! And the cool retro looking photo is my husband Ben and his brother Dan. We were born in the 70's and you can just about spot the Raleigh chopper in the back ground, remember how many kids you could get on one of those things?
My husband Ben is a bit of technical geek and a whizz at all this internet stuff. So behind the scenes he runs our store online, and I get the good job of seeking out all the lovely stuff to sell in our store. We have a bit of help here and there to make sure all our goodies find their way to all you lovely people.
All this online stuff is great but we love to meet our customers face to face, so if you are ever in Wallingford in Oxfordshire, pop in to our bricks & mortar store for a chat and mooch about. It's a beautiful building with an ingle nook fireplace, industrial style walls and a secret mini outdoor yard in the middle of the store, and of course it's full of tempting goodies too!
Setting up our store has been a real adventure for us and we are so chuffed to share our finds with all of you. We hope you enjoy browsing our store and stumbling upon something that will bring a smile to your face.
